Steak Kabobs
Steak Kabobs are a great way to grill your main food groups (meat and veggies) at the same time, all in one dish. Kabobs are fun to prepare, easy to grill, and attractive to serve. The grilled vegetables add flavor to the steak cubes, and visa versa, creating a tasty meal.
Characteristics of Steak Kabobs include:
•Ribeye steak, Top Sirloin steak, and Beef Tenderloin steak are great choices for Steak Kabobs
•For best results with grilling, cut all of your pieces of steak the same size, preferably about 1 inch
Here are grilling tips for Steak Kabobs:
•For the best, most safe, grilling results, use metal skewers for your Steak Kabobs.
•If you don’t have metal skewers, soak bamboo skewers in water for at least 30 minutes before putting your steak and vegetables on them (this will help prevent the skewers from catching on fire, once you place them on the hot grill, over flames).
•Oil the grill (using a piece of steak fat, held between tongs) before placing your Kabobs on the grill so that your Kabobs don’t stick to the grill.
•Watch your skewers when they’re on the grill, and turn your Kabobs frequently.
• After your final application of marinade, let the Steak Kabobs cook for 2-3 more minutes on the grill to kill any potential bacteria from the raw meat juice that was in your marinade.
•To be safe, discard any unused marinade.
Steak Kabobs can include the following vegetables on the skewer:
•mushrooms
•onions
•zucchini
•green peppers
•red peppers
•yellow peppers
•cherry tomatoes
•eggplant
•asparagus
•yellow squash
Grilling time for Steak Kabobs: Approximately 3 minutes per side (or 6-12 minutes total).
