Grilling The Perfect Hamburger
Not everyone loves steak…some people, especially little people, prefer Hamburgers. The best Hamburgers are moist and chewy on the inside, with a nice charred crust on the outside. Hamburgers are easy to prepare and easy to grill.
Please note: There’s been a lot of controversy in the news lately, over pink slime in burgers. Pink slime was primarily included in inexpensive, lean ground beef and has now been pulled from many grocery stores and is no longer used by most fast food restaurants.
Characteristics of Hamburgers include:
•Ground chuck is the most common type of ground beef used for Hamburgers.
•For juicy burgers, choose a chuck that has at least 15%-22% fat content.
•The more well-done you like your Hamburgers, the higher the fat content you should choose (to allow the patty to cook thoroughly without drying out).
•For best grilling results, make Hamburger patties that are about a half-inch to three-quarter-inch thick.
Grilling times for Hamburgers: Approximately 3-4 minutes per side for a half-inch thick Hamburger patty. Don’t squish the Hamburgers with your spatula when you’re grilling, or you’ll lose all the good juices and cause flare-ups of flames.
When you’re ordering steak online, sometimes steak companies will have a special offer that includes free hamburger meat.
